I would like to try suse before setting it onto my HD but so far cannot get to try it out.
I have a vista, preloaded Vaio desktop, have downloaded suse 11.1 KDE4 LiveCD i686 but cannot get past the installing screens. ( I have actually tried both 32 bit and 64 bit live KDE Cds )
The screens are crisp and bright, totally perfect graphically but after the second green screen showing progress, it gets to about 90% done and then the screen goes black. The CD continues whiring and spluttering for about a minute with the activity light flashing. Then it stops and the screen remains black.
Any ideas how to get to at least try suse? Would the Gnome version make any difference in my case?
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel core 2 duo
32 bit
3.00 gig memory (ram)
Tried failesafe, just tried gnome also. Gnome gave an options page, went ot the load screen and the bar never moved at all, left t for at least 3 minutes and had to abort.
Maybe its just not compatible.
Have now tried this with Suse32 bit, Suse Gnome and even Suse 64 bit (although a 32 bit machine) and there is an error during boot (configure screen), the results move so fast but the only RED failiure is the “Device Mapper”, I think thats it as it moves so fast.
Also it states the following, although I am not sure it makes any difference.
Skipped boot.md
use i8042.noaux
no acpi in kernal
no fs found in etc/
The Red failed message is between what looks like a Time reference and the device bootmapper lines.
Have installed Mobolive to see if I can get anywhere with that, the scrolling through safe made it slower and easier to read the error.
