Wirelss not able to connect to internet

Hi,
I just installed Opensuse 11.2 from a DVD…The wireless connects to the network, i see that it is active…but it wont connect to the internet…

However, in the same laptop, I used the live CD last night and i was able to connect to the net without any issues…

I have a Intel Pro/Wireless 5100 AGN wireless card…

I went thru the sticky in this forum and here is the output… Please advice me as to what to do to make it work.

I am not sure what is happening…even though i have not images… it doesn’t allow me to post the output of

iwconfig, iwlist scan and dmesg

Vishwa

Hi,
I have posted everything that the sticky asks me to. I have also noticed that I don’t this problem when I login as a root.

And I was able to connect to internet as a regular user if I used the ifup and connected instead.

I reinstalled the NetworkManager and it didn’t make any difference.

Can anybody please help me to rectify this situation

Regards,
Vishwa

Your wireless is associated with your AP. Your problem in connecting to the
Internet is either a problem with DNS or one of routing. Running as a normal
user, please post the output of the following:

/sbin/route -n
ping 209.85.225.103

Hi, I’m new to Linux in general. I recently purchased a netbook. Asus 1005HAB. Windows XP was garbage. I experienced every issue that you could imagine. I switched to Linux. Every distro seemed to work except for the wireless. My netbook has a AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-EXPRESS)(wlan0). Funny… it shows that the connection is active, yet I cannot connect. I have heard wonderful things about the Linux community and would like simple directions for a non-techie newbie.

Thanks!

Oh… by the way I am running Opensuse 11.2. It looks great and I think all the features are working properly.

Thanks again!

I had this problem after upgrading my Intel/Pro Wireless Dell from 11.0 to 11.2 and troubleshot for two days. getting IP address but the routing tables weren’t being updated somehow.

I uninstalled NetworkManager and installed wicd and everything has been fine. I know it’s not an intensely technical solution, but whatever works, right?
