when i boot from the opensuse 11.3 (gnome) livecd, it finds - automatically - both my wireless adaptors
(one internal, pci based ralink 3090; the second one a D-Link DWA-140 Wireless N USB; which uses also a ralink driver but i could be wrong here)
it not only finds them, but activates and works with them
when i installed opensuse to my system, it suddenly doesn’t find them anymore. why is this and more important, how can i enable them in the installed version…? maybe some commands i can input in the liveversion that tell me which drivers are to be loaded but i could use some help there, i have some experience with ubuntu but i’m not a linux poweruser
thanks

I am very sorry to hear you have been having such a networking problem when using Gnome. Even though I don’t use Gnome myself (I use KDE), it should still work when installed, just like the CD. I would wonder if you have enabled NetworkManager in YaST?
You have both Wired and Wireless network and neither one works after the normal install of openSUSE when using Gnome, is that correct?
If you feel up to downloading and activating a bash script file, you could post its results here online for us to see. The info file can be large and so you can post parts of it you think important. Here is the link to the program:
netinfo - Read Network & PC Information into a Local Text File
Message #11 has the most recent version of the netinfo script for you to try.
Thank You,
