Wireless stopped after updates from yesterday.

I updated my system yesterday and my wireless suddenly stopped. Other devices (phone) are able to connect to the network, but my laptop stopped. The wired connection works fine. Old laptop connects fine. It just keeps prompting me for the passkey for my WPA2.

Any ideas?

How about letting us know the model of your card, or mentioning the steps
that made the card work in the first place, or repeating them?

Kind regards,
Andreas Stieger

well, there were no “steps” to make it work in the first place, i installed opensuse and it was recognized immediately. it can pick up the networks just fine.

it’s a dell studio 1537 w/ Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card. The router’s 802.11g.

and here are some excerpts from dmesg

later on…

Look near the bottom, definitely some errors.

Here I posted it to a site I use, because it’s too much data.

so after playing around with it this week, i’ve come to this conclusion.

wireless does in fact work when the laptop’s plugged in OR it’s running on battery and battery is above 35% charged. i don’t see anything in power settings saying that wireless should go funky.

Stopping wireless when the battery level goes below a certain value is likely a
BIOS “feature”.
