wireless SET problem

Hey everyone. Not sure if anyone has seen this or posed this before…i am assuming they have. but when i try to start me wireless card to connect to the access point i get this error

 ifup wlan0
    wlan0     
    wlan0     warning: using NO encryption
command 'iwconfig wlan0 nick dnhlaptop' returned
 Error for wireless request "Set Nickname" (8B1C) :
    SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.
interface wlan0 is not up
Checking for network time protocol daemon (NTPD):                    unused

This is what i get when it is set to static. same thing with DHCP only it tried to start the DHCP service

any help would be great.

Have you configured your wlan0 connection in YAST/Network Devices correctly? If you did, try changing your network activation to NetworkManager instead of the “classical metod with ifup”; that might fix things…
