When I’m at uni I use the wireless internet. This works perfectly well. Due to some issues with another program I ended up installing KDE4 in addition to gnome, which I usually use. In gnome the computer can easily find and log on to the wireless network. However when I start a KDE4 session I can’t get the wireless to work. I don’t really understand why this is happening. I though it would use the same settings. How do I make the KDE4 wireless network manager use the settings from the gnome wireless network manager?
If the wireless is working in gnome, there is no reason why it shouldn’t in KDE4.
It’s just a matter of getting the settings right.
Try and explain what is happening and we’ll see if we can advise.
i you configure wireless with yast (and not network manager) the network come in int3 before kdm or gdm
i think thats a good solution

Make sure your system is fully updated. There were a couple of bugs in the
distributed KDE wireless components, but those have been fixed. To completely
remove the effects of those bugs, delete all your connections made with the kNM
applet, and remake them. At that point, it should work.
I can’t believe how much n00b I am !! I took screenshots of the settings in gnome and used them to set up the wireless in KDE4. Now it works like a charm…I just wish I tried this before bothering you guys with it…
But anyhow; Thanks for the help !! :)
