Wireless not working on HP Pavilion dv9917cl notebook

Hello,

First time here at the forums. I am trying to get my wireless to work on an HP Pavilion dv9917cl notebook.Output of lspci:

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

any help would be appreciated as openSUSE is my fav distro and would like to use it mainstream.
