Wireless not working in opensuse 11.1 and ath928x card

Hello,

I just got a new acer extensa 5630Z laptop but can’t get the wireless to work. When I disable and reenable network manager, I get a “no network running” error. I have went through Larry’s sticky and got the following results. Any help would be appreciated.

/sbin/lspci

When I try to click on network manager, it is unresponsive and won’t let me create a new connection.

Everything here looks normal. As long as you do not have a wireless
switch turned off, it is just a matter of configuration. I’m not sure
what you mean that NetworkManager is unresponsive, but if
KNetworkManager doesn’t work, use YaST to set the traditional ifup
method and configure your wireless that way.

I was able to create a connection in network manager, but still can’t seem to connect. When trying to ping, the system hangs. When using firefox, I get the error “failed to connect, although the site seems to be valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.” I have now disabled network manager and went to traditional.

I have downloaded a tool called kwifimanager. It says that my signal strength is 85. My connection speed is 1 Mb/s.

Connected to network: Chewbaca
Access point: 00:1F:B3:0A:87:E9
Local IP: unavailable
Frequency [channel]: 2.437[6]

I’m using WPA personal for encryption and I’m entering the router password for the shared key. I’ve disabled the firewall. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong…

Also, the kwifimanager states:

Access Point: unknown
Mode: managed
Quality: 85
WEP: on
