I am trying to configure my wireless card (Intel(R) WiMAX Link 5150) to work with my Dell E6500 laptop computer under a new OpenSuse 11.1 x32 installation. The device is there as a piece of hardware but it seems that it is not seen by YaST as a working device.
I have seen the stikies and tried to make the most of the useful advise there. I am coming to the conclusion that the device is not detected correctly since no “Wireless” or “LAN” is mentioned in the Hardware Information sheet. The Dell wireless switch is turned “on”.

It seems to me that my system does not see a “Network Adapter”. If it is so, what does this mean? When I boot with Windows my wireless works, which means the Wireless device is there and is capable of doing its job…
I thought it was a usb device (yet, I may be mistaken) and that is why at first I did not post the /sbin/lspci output. Windows OS lists three “Network Adapter” devices: 1) Intel WiFi Link 5150, 2) Intel WiMAX Link 5150, and 3) Intel 82567LM Gigabite Network Connection.
Sure, but mine seems to have Intel 5050 according to: (i) Dell’s system information for the desktop as sold, and (ii) the ID “Intel 423c” that appears in the output above.
Does this mean that my OpenSuse does not recognize the device properly ?
