i am trying to get my wireless network to work.

Hadware information :

what device do i have?

Intel Corporation Pro/wireless 5100 AGN (shiloh) network connection (wlan0)

Kernel Driver : iwlagn

Do i need to install external firmware?

Network Manager says that my wireless network connection is active.
however when i browse a page i get : Error,problem loading page. Firefox cant find the server at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(http://www.youtube.com)

my wired and wireless connections uses different IP adresses. Shouldent they use the same IP adress?

No, typically two NICs should never have the same IP address. They also
should not typically be on the same network. Post the output from the
following commands, please:

ip addr
ip route
cat /etc/resolv.conf
/sbin/iwconfig

Can you ping your nameservers?

nameserver 217.13.7.140
nameserver 217.13.4.24

It looks like you can ping the Internet (though probably over eth0 and not
wlan0) so since you cannot get to a website the next thing I would check
is your nameserver setting. Compare the IP addresses above with a working
box in your environment. Also perhaps try the following to see if you can
reach outside your network with TCP as well as ICMP:

netcat -zv 74.125.19.99 80 443

Sorry, the other command should have been /usr/sbin/iwconfig (missed ‘/usr’).

when i go into my router and run a diagnostics, i get this :

Test the connection to your DSL service provider :

Test ATM OAM F5 segment ping = Fail
Test ATM OAM F5 end-to-end ping: = Fail

Test the connection to your Internet service provider :

Test PPP server connection: = Fail
Test authentication with ISP: = Fail
Test the assigned IP address: = Fail

The rest come up as : PASS

Of course that does not necessarily mean your nameservers are working or
that what responds to the ping is a nameserver. A better test would be to
