wireless icon showing as 'unmanaged'

I set up a friend’s laptop with opensuse 11.3 yesterday and everything was working fine. He has been playing about with it today and now cannot connect to his wireless access point.

It was set up to automatically connect to the wireless network but now the wireless icon (bottom right hand corner of the screen) is shown as ‘unmanaged’. Can someone please point me in the right direction to fix the problem.

Many thanks

Hi,

I downloaded this fix earlier, but I’m still having the same problems as the previous poster. When I try to configure my system to use Network Manager in ‘Network Devices’ it says Error, no network running. Right clicking on the network manager icon says that it is disable. Can anyone help? It’s REALLY annoying.

Thanks in avance…

Just to clarify, did you also check /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state?

NetworkManager/knetworkmanager stopped working

Hello,

when does this behaviour appear ? Directly after booting ? If so, could you try the following:

Start “Ksysguard” > In the Tab “Process Table” kill the “Knetworkmanager”-Process > Restart “Knetworkmanager”

Does ist work then ?
