wireless help

i am a complete newbie to linux, so please excuse my lameness

i have been trying to connect to my wireless network, but i have no clue how

here are so things you might need to know to help me:

wireless card: trendnet tew p423pi
distro: openSUSE 11

i have no other info that would seem helpful, plus i have no internet connection so i cant use the repository

From what I can see, support for that device does not look too good. Which would mean using
Ndiswrapper - openSUSE

This uses the windows driver. Read the link above carefully.

Also, more info can be obtained if you post and/or read the stickies in the wireless section. Some good info there

thanks, i have a problem though, i have no internet access so i had to download the ndiswrapper with another computer and save the gz file to a USB stick and i have no clue how to install it with the terminal

so how did you download the dvd or was it from a magazine?
do you have any live cd’s
try one to see if it gives you a connection from a live boot to use for download.

nope, i used the local installer and installed it from the ISO on my windows partition

right click extract

or

gunzip package_name.gz

there are usually install instructions within the archive

why not use ndiswrapper from your install dvd ? you did use the dvd to install didn’t you ? The dvd contains 4x more software thus simplifying install & setting up internet

Andy

nah, i have the ISO to make the disk, but i used the local installer in the ISO to install it without a disk

i tried to install mdiswrapper but terminal keeps saying the command is invalid
