Hello,
I just installed opensuse 11.1 today and having real issues trying to get my wireless card going.
Forgive me, this is very difficult for me and I am learning on the fly. (over my head for sure)
My wireless card is a 1390 wlan mini card
laptop is a …dell inspiron 1501
I have been following the directions on this link
Getting Your Wireless to Work - openSUSE Forums
I got to the place where instructed me to **
“This one command will output every line in the log that contains any mention of firmware. If you need external firmware, there will be a line that says that the driver was unable to load the firmware, and the name of the missing file should be noted. You will need to locate that file (on the Internet) and place it in the directory /lib/firmware.”**
Here is the error I found: March 5 15:11 linux -0955 kernel:b43-phyO ERROR: You must go to b43 - Linux Wireless and download the latest firmware (v 4)
I have another computer that I am on right now, obviously I have no connection on the new linux setup yet. But I went to the site here on this pc,
b43 - Linux Wireless
and found the following information that seems to be what I need (maybe?)
openSUSE 11.0 and 11.1 use the following command:
*
sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware
Ahem…here is my queston, what do I do? I cannot download this to my laptop, I haven’t got a internet connection, how do I proceed?
So so sorry for this long rambleing post.,
