Wireless does'nt connect by default

I configured my atheros wireless, and every time i login in linux, i find that i have to poke my wireless settings to work, as the settings dont remain saved… I have absolutely no clue what can i do to get them saved… and not wasting 5 minutes every time i login…

Thanks and looking forward for your help.

Maybe some more info would help… Which method are you using to configure wireless networks–Yast or NetworkManager? NetworkManager’s supposed to be easier for switching between different networks, whereas Yast is preferred for static networks. What desktop environment are you typically in–KDE, GNOME, etc? And what version of openSUSE?

im in KDE and im using network manager to configure with opensuse 11.0

it should connect to my wireless as soon as i login?

Hi,

in the NetworkManager click Edit Connections ->choose your router-> Edit Connection -> next -> next-> next-> choose Autoconnect->Save

hope that was it…

well settings are not a problem. just that i have to wait for five minutes to get connected to my wireless after every login, weird isnt it?

ive noticed that every time i log in i HAVE TO go to yast > network devices > network settings. and configure my atheros wireless once again overwriting same dhcp stuff everytime i login. any clue?

I have checked the “automatically connect” checkbox also.

is it coz im suspending the system to disk?
Do u all get this problem in your osuse 11.0?

Check that NetworkManager automatically starts in your runlevel, that it’s enabled in Yast:

Open **Yast > System > System Services (runlevel) > Expert mode**, and see if "network" (and possibly "network-remotefs") are enabled for runlevel 5.
And **Yast > Network Devices > Network Settings > Global Options**, ensure that NetworkManager instead of "traditional ifup" is selected to control your network.

thanks for the help.
>my remote level in for the service ‘network’ is set to 2,3 and 5 and is ‘running’
>service ‘network-remotefs’ is not visible in the set of services.

> its already set to connect with network manager, and not traditional ifup…

I have exactly the same problem. All services are running just fine.
