wireless cutting off

i’m experiencing some wireless problem in that it just cuts off after a while.

i am using opensuse 11 with a gnome desktop on a compaq presario v3000, broadcom bcm4312 (rev 01) wireless card.

its not a problem with the router nor the wireless card as when i used to run xp, it was fine.

i also dabbled with ubuntu 8.04 for a few days and found that it had something called wifi radar that allowed me to connect to the wireless when the ubuntu drivers failed me.

Does the output of a dmesg command have anything to say when it cuts
out? I have a BCM4312 (rev 1) card that works perfectly - it is not a
generic problem with the driver. Kernels later than the one in
openSUSE 11.0 have updated code in mac80211 that makes connections a
lot more robust, but your 2.6.25 should be OK.

hmm, not sure. using a wired connection at the moment to do all the updating but will try the dmesg later tonight or tomorrow when i’m on the wireless.

i’m a noob with opensuse, so i just open the terminal and type in ‘dmesg’ and see what it says and post it up?

Don’t post it all. We do not need most of it. You should see a line
that says “wlan0: associated”. Send it and the stuff that follows.

thank you, will make a note of it and post it up when the wireless decides to play up.
