Wireless connection dropouts

I’m using SuSE 12.1 on my Envy 14 2000eg but have some problems with the Wireless connection. My wireless Card is a Intel 6230

It seems to work fine, but every few minutes it stops working for about a minute and works afterwards again as if nothing happened.
The system Tray Icon says I’m connected all the time but if I do a ping i see icmp_req=18 then abut 100 pings are lost and after that it resumes again after about 5 messages destination unreachable. (I have to lookup the exact error message this evening and post the ping - sorry).
All other devices run fine and even windows on the notebook performs flawlessly with wireless.

If I join other wireless networks it works without problems. The problem exists only with this wireless connection.

The router is a Tilgin VOOD IAD 452w (Tele2 Easybox). I even exchanged it against another router of the same brand but the problem persisted.

What can I do to figure out what the problem is and resolve it?

Thank you very much!

I would suspect a firmware problem in the Tilgin router. Is an upgrade available?

When the wireless goes offline, is anything logged? Use dmesg to see what is there.

The only thing obviously wrong with your setup is the choice of a channel. Wifi
is NOT like television. The channels are 5 MHz apart, but each one is at least
20 MHz wide. As a result, only 1, 6, and 11 do not interfere with one another.
By using 10, you are getting interference with both 6 and 11.

I don’t think there is a update available but will search for it today.

sometimes i even get the part between SuSEfirewall multiple fimes.

Thanks I will correct this issue I thought a spacing of 4 would be enough.

Your firewall is dropping incoming UDP packets, which are likely the ping returns.

Do you see the same failures when you ping the router (192.168.1.1)?

The problem stays the same if I ping the router. The wireless gets deauthenticated and looses the connection until it reauthenticates itself.
If i disable SuSEfirewall it also changes nothing.

try the cmd ifstatus wlan0, when it’s say up you probilly have the dchcpd not running, this can be done by the cmd rcnetwork restart.
after this check the network with rcnetwork status and the card with ifstatus wlan0.
this will give you the information you need.

Weekend not at home have to test further next week.
It worked for some time but I don`t know what changes did it or if it was more a coincidence. setting the router to g only seemed to help also.

The problem still persists.

I can reconect via “rcnetwork restart” to speedup the reconnection but still after 1min 20 sec up to 1 min 40 sec the connection drops again.

I tried dhcpcd wlan0
and setting
DHCLIENT_BIN="" -> DHCLIENT_BIN=“dhclient”
DHCLIENT_DEBUG=“no”-> DHCLIENT_DEBUG=“yes”
in “/etc/sysconfig/network/dhcp”

but it seems to change nothing. I still get deauthenticated and have to reauthenticate again.

In this thread, you have never posted WHY it gets deauthenticated. The output of
the dmesg command should have that info.

I already posted the dmesg output:

What else is missing?

We never see "deauthenticating (Reason X).

The first line reads:

where …] is the mac adress from the router if i’m not mistaken.

I seached a lot for this line but found mostly people with reason 3 7 and 11 and no list what the numbers stand for.

I know what the reasons mean, but I need the one YOUR system gets.

I’m sorry if I don’t understand what you need to help me. The reason I get is Reason 1 as shown in my dmesg posts.

I’m also posting my entire dmesg output so you can read it by yourself.

SUSE Paste

Do you need more than the dmesg output?

Thank you for your patience.
