My College System is connected to internet (wired Connection)
I edited the /etc/resolv.conf
added
nameserver 202.138.96.2
I edited the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0
added the IP address , Gateway, Netmask and Peer DNs = no option
The ips are static . My network is controlled by ifup
but still I am unable to connect to internet
while windows with the same Ip,netmask, gateway and nameserver is able to connect any suggestions ?
The machine has 3 oses
windows
Fedora
Suse
The same configuration I tried with Fedora
it works like a charm
but not with suse
Also, post the output from the following in both *nix distros:
ip addr
ip route
cat /etc/resolv.conf
Also when testing networking issues describe what you mean by “it doesn’t
work”. For example, does pinging work by DNS? How about by IP? Can you
ping anything on the local network? Can you ping your gateway by IP?
Good luck.
