Hello, I’m new to OpenSuSE and have just booted up an Acer Aspire 4736z laptop with the 11.2 livecd. All of the specs (gathered from lspci -n) are available here: Debian HCL - Acer / Aspire 4736Z
Wired internet does not work. I have tried modprobe atl1e then service network restart to no effect. NetworkManager says nothing is plugged in (perhaps a hotplugging issue?). eth0 is listed in ifconfig.
Is that your laptop spec in the link you provided?, seems not because openSUSE11.2 have 2.6.31 kernel, but there it is 2.6.25… and varies.
Can you post the output again here:
That site provides all the driver information based on the output of that command, but I can’t link you to my paste. However it had a page for my laptop’s exact model and the information it displays is identical. Just disregard the mismatch of kernel versions. I think that’s the version they use for running the site’s service.
If you are on openSUSE ATM, just open terminal and run the above command and paste the output here, it will help to know whether which driver is in use/installed or not installed for the Ethernet. So we can further investigate the issue.
