Winetricks installation on Opensuse

Hello there,

OpenSuse 42.2 Leap, no change to setup.

I would be interested to use winetricks as it seem to allow the use of otherwise non supported software, but so far no indication found as to how to handle it ?

Best option would be from a package of course, still, if there is a way to handle it, could someone tell me how to handle that ?

Thanks in advance.

winetricks is part of openSUSE’s wine package.
Just run it in a terminal window.

But it’s not really something that “allows the use of otherwise non supported software”.
I think you are rather talking about wine itself here, which allows to run Windows software in Linux.

winetricks is a tool to tweak your wine settings, install missing DLLs, and so on.

Since most of the time they are basic (that cursed “pulse not found”), it is possible for it to allow previously non functional software (yes, windows based) to be used.

I would recommend playonlinux. It uses winetricks under the hood and is easier to manage than winetricks:

It even allows you to use different wine versions for different applications.
