A MS-Windows program I use quite often is called " AutoStitch "
To run this program, all I do is download it to : /home/oldcpu/windows/autostitch and uncompress it and then run it with:
wine autostitch.exe
and thats all. You should see the autostitch program window appear.
Some details: wine will then (if not done before) automatically create a directory called .wine and inside .wine will be a directory called ‘dosdevices’ (I believe for mappings) and ‘drive_c’. There will also be files under .wine to contain the typical MS-windows registry settings for programs that set those. under ‘drive_c’ will be directories “Program Files”, “users”, “windows” … stuff that MS-Windows users (of which I am not one) will understand far better than I. But all that is transparent.
As noted, for a sample MS-Windows app (note “simple”) one only need run

before you try a reinstall, try creating another user account, even if
you reinstall openSUSE, it can use the old /home with all of the old config
…hidden files which may be the cause of any problems you are having with
startup, and possibly with wine.
