i have(not only me) problem with ati card aka “Checkerboard of Doom” :frowning:
it is known bug afaiu(i’m not very good in english)

so afaik problem is not fixing…

i have working propriatary driver for ati radeon xpress 1100 in my laptop.

It is suggested on the below link to try downgrading your ATI driver to a earlier version. Some have reported success; or you may have to wait until a newer ATI driver is released. Apparently ATI are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.
