Windows printer - How to access step by step

I’m using OpenSuse 3.2, 32bit and KDE
I need to access a printer attached to a PC running Windows 7 and the printer is already shared.
Samba and Cups is on.

Both systems are responding when I ping and both without firewalls.

But I can not access the printer by OpenSuse.

What are the steps to solve it?

Thanks in advance

Not sure from your post what you’ve tried regarding configuration. Anyway, review the following

https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Printing_via_SMB_(Samba)_Share_or_Windows_Share

http://swerdna.dyndns.org/susesambaprint.html

Configure via the CUPS http interface using your favourite browser

http://localhost:631/admin/

Following the first steep, I get an crash (see bellow)
What can I do to solve ?

I tray the following step, testing the printer

putting file - as stdin-4273 (0.8 kb/s) (average 0.8 kb/s)

But don’t work,

Hello. I solved the problem.

I did the following:
1-I removed the file /etc/samba/smb.conf
2-Unsinstalled the samba package and installed again.
3-installed new printer using http://localhost:631

To configure CUPS, I used the address of the network printer that has been shown by the command

 linux-qgry:/home/sergio # smbclient -L 192.168.1.34

I hope this information will help those who have this difficulty.

Thank you for your help.

I’m not sure about the cause of that, but doesn’t seem to be related to accessing your windows printer anyway. (FWIW, there are bug reports discussing messages like that concerning Windows 7 and onwards.)

Only the samba-client packages should be required here, and perhaps there was an issue with your smb.conf. Anyway, your printer configuration is essentially as I would have done. Good work.
