Windows partition deletion help...

Hey,

I am ready to take windows completely off, so I went to the partion manager and “deleted” the partition. Though the partion is no longer visible nor can I boot up windows. I feel that the data was not actually deleted b/c it took 2 seconds and I had 50 gigs on there as well as the fact that I cannot expand my linux partition.

can you please help me to solve this problem?

A new clean install is fine, but I am unaware of how to boot from my openSuse cd. I am also currently using an external dvd drive until I get my internal back.

is it possible for me to boot from external drive again?

thanks,
-Jason

Hello Jason,

I understand that you have a cd/dvd drive in your computer. To boot from your openSUSE-liveCD, makes sure that the boot sequence in your bios boots from the cd/dvd before it will boot from your harddisk. If that is oke put in the openSUSE-CD and (re)start the computer. At the 1st input screen select start openSUSE 11.0 or select new install. Just follows the instuctions. If you selected start openSUSE 11.0 you can look around for a while in openSUSE 11.0 and the decide to install openSUSE 11.0 from the desktop.

Regards, Frans

If you enter you,re BIOS setup it will tell if it is
possible to boot from a external drive .
If so set the external drive as the first boot device and you,re HD as the first HD boot device.
If opensuse is the only OS you wish to install than you can let her use the total HD
But 20 GB is enough to install opensuse , maybe a other time you like to try a other distro as well
