I have an HP Envy dv7. I have disabled secure boot and loaded OpenSUSE12.3. I used EasyBCD to create my OpenSuse boot option. One thing I noticed is that I used the Grub2-UEFI option during install, but the EasyBCD only gives the Grub 2 option (no UEFI). When my system reboots and I choose OpenSUSE, I get the following error in the Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start…
File:
st\autoneogrub0.mbr
status: 0xc000007b
Info: The application or operating system because a required file is missing or contains errors.
Is there anyone who can help me figure out how to dual boot my preloaded Windows 8 system and OpenSUSE 12.3. I am fumbling in the dark and need assistance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You do not need to do anything special. When you install openSUSE it should be added to UEFI boot menu as default boot entry. There is no need to use some third-party tools.

Did you follow the advice in the release notes? I do not have my laptop
with me but in there is an option in YAST -> Boot Loader where you can
select secure boot and GRUB2-EFI. A quote from the release notes are:
“YaST does not automatically detect if the machine has secure boot
enabled and will therefore install an unsigned bootloader by default.
But the unsigned bootloader will not be accepted by the firmware. To
have a signed bootloader installed the option “Enable Secure Boot” has
to be manually enabled.”
I hope this helps you. I had a hard time with this because I do not
really understand this new UEFI and secure boot.
I could not get openSUSE to boot from the windows 8 boot manager and
only from the grub menu. But now I can boot both windows and openSUSE
from the grub menu so I do not mind.
