Windows 7 Is The Multi-Touch Heaven | Device Daily

how does the linux world plan to respond to this?

Hi
Looks good, I am going to by shares is a screen cleaning product
company and patent Teflon finger stalls…

Also this was posted a few days back which could also help;
‘Actrix CyberClean’ (http://www.actrix.co.nz/special/cyberclean.html)

I think like all advances in computers lattely, when the technology is more into the public’s hands the linux community will adopt it before windows 7 is even released

I was reading that Windows 7 will basically be Vista improved, that came from microsoft. So, if it is, then, windows 7 might just flop.

Not really a groundbreaking thing if you ask me… Very nice technique though with many exiting possibilities. Apple has had multi touch in their iPhone for some time now and I’ve read this will also be a feature coming to the Android platform… This does not look like a very complicated step to add to Linux as there is already good (single) touch support in Linux. The main thing is probably the rewrite that is needed to have each program make popper use of the possibilities.

Always remember the truth about lipstick and pigs.

what are you trying to say?

btw, the comment i made comes from Steve Ballmer who openly stated that it “will be Vista, but a lot better”

i have very little knowledge of these techy things. i came upon the video and it looked really funky. just wanted to know if there are any such multitouch kind of projects planned for linux. i mean if we are to compete in that particular market, only big companies like Novell, Red Hat and Canonical seem to have the resources to carry out the development. one cannot expect independent distros to come up with such things, if they are not provided the support.

Just that if you put lipstick on a pig, it is STILL a pig.

That is, even if you ‘improve’ Vista, it will still be Vista. Like, Vista is an
‘improved’ XP, which was something else improved, which was [skip a lot of
versions] Windows 2.0 improved, which was ALSO a pig in lipstick!!

Will EARTH never learn the true definition of “Windows”? Here it is:

Windows (2.0, 3.1, 95, 98, ME, NT, 2K, XP, Vista, 7), noun,
32 and/or 64 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a
16 bit patch to an
8 bit operating system originally coded for a
4 bit microprocessor, written by a
2 bit company, that can’t stand
1 bit of competition.

See?

right. i would to ask you permission to rip that off. i am SOOOOOOOO taking that, and using it!!!

You are welcome. Anyway, I didn’t write it. Instead, I saw it on a bulletin
board in about '94 or so. Of course, back then it didn’t get past the history of
the then lipsticked 16 bit pig named 3.1.

By the way, “2 bit company, that can’t stand 1 bit of competition” gets over
10,000 hits at Google…and, I’d guess none of them refer to Novell! (And, won’t
until MSFT buys enough voting stock to take over.)

thank you.

Yeah! … And we really believe what Steve has to say.

Read my Lips. No New Taxes
Old Steve, is just about as trustworthy as the guy that said that.

Frankly, I’m surprised M$ has not seen the need to kill off the Behemoth that Windows has become. It needs stripping back to the bones and a complete re-build from the kernel up. But they just keep loading on the FAT.

Looks cool and all that, but i don’t think that you can just install windows 7 into your current laptop or computer and it will magically be touch sensitive! So i don’t think that it will take off that quick as people will have to upgrade their screens or laptops!

MPX? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olWjnfBoY8E) from July 2007.

BTW the Asus eeePC 900 and 1000 series models have a a multi-touch touchpad that works with Xandros (although the company that makes the pad doesn’t seem to keep the drivers as up-to-date as the ones avaialble for XP). There’s a new touch screen model of the eeePC coming out early next year. Not sure if it will support multi touch out the box but I’m sure someone will quickly figure out how to make it work on Xandros or another distro.

Recent video of MPX in Compiz-Fusion.

Germaphobes rejoice! LOL.
Can’t wait to see people hosing down their screens with Lysol.

Gotta  at this.

You know I can’t see the point and it looks incredibly clumsy to me. Re-inventing the wheel.
