I want to give Ubuntu Studio a go so a triple boot is in order.
The drives are setup like this:
sda 111gb SSD
sda1 55gb Linux Native
sda2 55gb Extended
sda5 2gb Linux Swap swap swap
sda6 20gb Linux Native Ext 4 /
sda7 34gb Linux Native Ext 4 /home
sdb Is all for Windows
Now would I delete sda1? Install Ubuntu there?
The boot is on the MBR. Is there anything there to be wary of?
Why deleting? You’re going to change its content, not its geometry. Just select this partition in Ubuntu’s setup (after choosing the “Do something else” option rather than accepting any default), mount in root “/”, use as ext4fs and format.
No, just let Ubuntu install Grub2 in there. Installing Ubuntu after openSUSE is easier than the contrary.

Just a suggestion for an alternative - if you want to just “give
something a go”, why not use a virtualization solution like VirtualBox?
Less impact on the physical hardware, and as long as you have the memory
(you already have the disk space, it seems - or a triple-boot option
wouldn’t be a consideration) and CPU power, that would seem a much safer
option to me.
