The reason I’m currently not using openSUSE anymore is that the last time I wanted to install it (13.1) Yast didn’t allowed to create LUKS encrypted Btrfs volumes. I have a laptop with 2 SSDs and want to use Btrfs with all of it’s advantages (snapshots, volume management, ssd optimization) but still want to hav my disk fully encrypted.
Does openSUSE 13.2 support encrypted Btrfs volumes?
I was able to format LUKS partition and create btrfs filesystem on top of it.
13.2 RC1. Copied about 400GB of files to it - no issues happened or errors reported
If it helps, on my laptop I did a clean install of 13.2 64 bit kde, uefi, secure boot, with full disk encryption using LVM on LUKS and btrfs formatted logical volumes. I partitioned the disk with a gparted live cd and then created the LVM on LUKS container from the command line before and finally using a dvd to install 13.2 by choosing expert partitioning.
Not really, as I don’t want to use LVM as Btrfs itself already supports subvolumes, which are enough for my usecase. Why use another layer of indirection?
