Will mate be updated to mate-desktop 1.27.3 release?

I see at the mate github that mate-desktop 1.27.3 release is the current version. Currently, openSUSE Tumbleweed is at mate-desktop 1.26.2 release. Are there plans to update the Tumbleweed packages to the latest version?

You would need to contact the MATE maintainers, and see what they have to say, chances are, they don’t follow the forums.

Would that be by filing a bug, or posting a request on the OBS page?

I don’t know the Maintainers preferences. Generally, I go check who the maintainers are on OBS, and drop them an e-mail.

Under Artix and Arch Linux, they upgraded MATE-desktop to 1.27 (March 2023) and then came back to 1.26 (May 2023). And so, it could be wise in Tumbleweed and Leap not to upgrade to 1.27.
