From my understanding Yast is retiring because a lot of the codebase is unmaintained.
The replacement for yast is Myrlyn and cockpit.
As already explained in countless threads, even by the maintainer, Myrlyn is a replacement for one single YaST module: YaST Software (including repo management).
There where already a lot of threads regarding this topic.
I’d call “a lot” a euphemism.
yes some Yast module doesn’t have direct replacment or replacements that wasn’t written for openSUSE directly
maybe Myrln and cockpit and firewalld but what about the rest Yast was one of the tools that helped a lot and if it can be rewritten if it’s can’t be ma intend even if bit by bit until the yast be complete again that would be awesome
i know it’s hard i appreciate the hard work
i tried to search before posting maybe i didn’t use the right keywords
Since we are in the correcting, finger-pointing world of oS, I’d like to ask: What is it a euphemism for? “A lot”? LOL! A linguistical infinite loop! I think understatement does the job.

If you understand German: I wrote several posts with very similar content in the German forums here.
thank you for the reply it was informative
i am still learning it i am not at level that allow me to read but will do some time
welcome to the forum
probably but the level of programing to the Yast i have huge appreciation to it
i would love if the the original; developers would develop replacement or at least the current maintainers
i don’t know if the current yast is beyond any way survive
as a programmer myself i have huge respect to people who built this stuff is anything but simple i would love to see modernized or rewritten to accommodate the modern world
for example the installer i can’t tell you how much i like it i can’t imagine agma replacing it
agma for me is downgrade of course i get the technical side why they had to retire it is just it’s sad
@exception, yes. A lot of threat have been dealing with this topic. You might be interested in this on, IMHO the most useful of all of them:
thank you that’s very helpful
