Wicked network service no longer works after reboot (wireless wpa-spk)

After a recent update, I found the wicked network service needs to be reconfigured after a restart. I also found that I can only get it to work again when I set the wireless card to use no encryption. Then I change it back to wpa-spk and enter the network and password in the encryption area. If I don’t set it to no encryption and close Yast, nothing works. After a restart, I need to repeat the process. The Network Manager still works fine but I use the Wicked service to use the wireless card as a router for my PC which doesn’t have wireless capability. I needed to enter the ISP’s DNS servers and the default gateway from the ISP. I haven’t seen a way to use the Network Manager to do that.

So the Wicked service seems to be losing it’s configuration after rebooting or a new start up. I first noticed this behavior a few days ago after a rather large online update.

It’s a known bug, with a bug report. Apparently, there will be a fix out shortly. Otherwise, it’s an annoyance at worst (or, it could be detrimental).

I would appreciate someone posting when this has been fixed. I re-built my system on openSUSE 13.1 because of this problem and am staying until the necessary patch is released.

Thank you!

I am not aware of such a bug, and don’t experience that either.

This should be fixed already with the last wicked update.

You can set the DNS server and default gateway in NetworkManager’s connection settings.

As mentioned, I cannot confirm that.
The settings are in place whenever I start wicked. Although I normally use NetworkManager only.

Are the settings actually written to disk?
They should be in /etc/sysconfig/network/ (ifcfg-XXX, routes, and config).

If you report a bug or subscribe to a bug on http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ (same username/password as here), you should get a notification when an update is released.
