Wich kernel should i use for my Aspire One?

Hi people!

Witch flavor of kernel should i use in my aspire one ?

I’m on default, because PAE crash …

Where can i find a description about all the available kernel flavors?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers rotfl!

I just did an aspire one netbook. I found 11.2 32bit non-PAE worked without problem. 11.2 32bitPAE worked a couple of boots then just crashed constantly. 11.2 64bit wouldn’t even try to install even though the netbook I was doing was supposed to support 64bit.

In answer to flavors of kernel, basically, as I understand it, the DVD download has a default specific kernel and you can upgrade the kernel to newer ones as they come out but I generally wait till the next release is mainstream unless I want to play at pre-release testing.

You only need PAE to access more than 3Gb of memory; so if you have less memory than that PAE is pointless.

Don’t use the Desktop kernel on it, it cause udev to hang up your system
on boot, keep the default

Not sure… Aspire One refers to a PLETHORA of VERY different
computing platforms. Without the SPECIFIC model number, this
is a hard question to answer.

Agreed… it will be less funny with a specific model number.
