When playing with my network configuration it sometimes takes the route command very long to print out the routing table. Since it’s just a matter of reading in and printing out a routing table I can’t see what could be causing the delay. I don’t see any patterns in the timing of the slowdowns either.

Try both commands and tell us if you note some speed up in one of them:
“route”
And
“route -n”
The first one performs a dns resolution, so if this one is slow, check your
dns servers.

Jup, that was probably it. Thanks!

In any case use the ‘ip’ command instead. For information purposes it is
always fast:
ip route
for IP info:
ip addr
Good luck.
