I have a cross-plataform problem. Well, it’s also a cross-computer problem. I know opensuse is not to blame but I don’t even know in what site to post it. So I posted here cause I know many users know a lot about programming and hardware so maybe someone can help me.
I have been trying vmpk on my opensuse 12.1 64-bit and notice that when i play notes on my pc’s keyboard there’s a small delay for the sound to be produced. If i play slow passages it may even pass unnoticed. But if i try to play fast notes some may be not played or step over each other.
I had the same problem using in wine windows app viena and also scala version for windows. Both have a virtual keyboard built-in.
But i know that the problem is not on my system because using those two windows apps in my windows xp i had the same problem. And even using them on my netbook wich has windows 7 I had the same problem. The netbook was a little faster to respond. Using my pc with opensuse and timidity as midi server the results were also slower.
What is more curious about it is that in all those apps if i click with mouse on the keys on the screen the results are imediate. doesn’t seem to occur any delay. The problem seem to be trying to play music using the computer’s keyboard.
Even though it’s not a problem specific to a single OS or to a single computer does anyone know why it happens and how it may be solved?
