Why i have to input password twice?

This is a bug from opensuse 12.1. In 12.1, if you use KDE desktop and choose not automatic login you will have to input password every time. But there is a bug that at the first time of input, you can’t input the second character so your password is wrong, you have to input again. I see there is a bug report, so i thought there should be bug fix soon. However, this problem still exist in 12.1. Yesterday i installed 12.2 beta1, to my surprise this problem comes again. Can anyone pay attention to it?

What is the bug number? If this is the same issue I’ve been seeing for
a while it is not specific to the second character. Type the first
character, wait a few seconds, and the rest should work just fine. If
you type fast you may have a few characters dropped during that first
login, but if you wait after typing the first character they all work.
Anyway, what’s the bug number?

Good luck.

I’m not sure that it’s unique to 12.1 either. I’m experiencing this with 11.4, and delaying the entry of the second character entry is as you’ve described.

Yes, but most of us input password very fast. We have no reason to wait a second.

Actually, that bug no. is marked as a duplicate of #728554

This bug appears to be related to KDE (kdm) version, rather than openSUSE version related. FWIW, I’m using kdm-4.8.3-749.1.x86_64 currently.

Those two bugs are labeled “12.1”. If you want the attention that a bug in
the beta gets, you have to report again and clearly label it “12.2”
