Why doesn't blender come with Cycles Render Engine?

I use blender for 3D modeling and after installing the latest version available from the software sources I noticed it doesn’t come with Cycles Engine. Why, why? :’(

Welcome her (I see this is your first post).

It must be a bit disappointing, but most people here are not clairvoyant  You could start with explaining wich level of openSUSE you use. And what the “software sources” are you mention. And everything you, after realising that we can not look over your shoulder while you are working with your system, think might be of interest to tell to those that are your potential helpers.

This question was asked once before, and IIRC, it was suggested that the
poster contact the package maintainer.

I use Blender from the official site, which allows an installation in my
home directory and doesn’t have the limitation of not having cycles in it.

+1 here.

To the op , the available blender version in the openSUSE repositoy is a bit outdated
if you compare it to the latest blender version. You may just download the latest from
the blender site and unpack and you are ready to go.

Sorry for the lack of info, I tested this on 12.3 with XFCE and also on KDE, I thought I wasn’t the only one who knew that Blender didn’t come with Cycles, no matter which oS version you’re running. I apologize for that. I just can’t imagine how oS’s team didn’t build a version that does come with it, Cycles is the 2nd most important thing on Blender and it ships with it from a lot of versions bellow 2.64 (the current stable one on opensuse repos). Not even 2.66a (the same I’m using on Ubuntu right now) ships with Cycles. Maybe I’ll find some link where I can give dev’s a suggestion about this

You can do a google search for ‘blender openSUSE’ and you will be able to find out and maybe give a suggestion to the blender packager of openSUSE to include cycles.
If memory serves, the last time I tried blender from the repo, it doesn’t also come with GPU rendering support.

As suggested from previous posts, why not use the blender for linux from blender site, it is fully working on openSUSE.
