Why does upgrade from 11.2 not work

I have two disks, one with 11.2 installed, the other has 11.3 RC2.
The upgrade process worked perfectly with 11.3 RC2.
With 11.2 upgrade, after the first reboot, I get nothing but a text screen (TTY1). Failsafe mode gives me a black screen.

What’s the difference? Both disks in the same computer.

Graphics card is GeForce 9400 GT (Nvidia)

For me it works, what video card do you have?

On both my machines running 11.2, I found that the only way to avoid problems is to use the “Install” option, not the “Upgrade”. One PC had the problem I mentioned before (only text screen available), the other would not resume from suspend to disc (KDE crash with weird colours on desktop). Both have Nvidia cards. Both machines work fine after re-installing with “Install”. It has saved me the bother of trying to replace Nouveau with Nvidia drivers, which I was considering.
