Is this safe? A good idea? What’s causing this? It’s called “pullin-msttf-fonts”.
Its not a good idea but its safe.
Not a good idea because of the license? Or because it’s MS?
There isn’t any license issue. It’s just a nuisance. One of my systems even got the message when I had the fonts already installed, so I downloaded again for a quiet life.

you don’t have to have them, but most people dosince some applications
(like GoogleEarth and all else that runs in WINE) will/can use them…

Many web pages are designed to use them; so are many documents you might use (openoffice.org). So
yes, generally it is a good idea.
