Why does the word “Dawson” appear directly underneath the time at the extreme bottom right of my screen ? (openSUSE 11.2)
Question answered. >:(SOMEONE was playing around and selected Dawson Canada as an alternative time zone. I was thrown because it also said Los Angeles when the cursor hovered above the time.

you let other folks use your computer while signed in as your user?
bad practice! they can easily trash your /home, your whole setup, look
etc etc etc…
instead, add another user for EACH “someone” you want to allow to use
your hardware…never let them in to your home…
it is REAL easy to add a new user with YaST, then log yourself out,
and let them log in…that is a whole lot faster than trying to
recover everything they “play around” and change/destroy.
