Why do my Youtube videos now work? Trying to work Adobe Flash

Running Suse 11.4 with LXDE
Firefox 13.0

Since doing a fresh install from an earlier version of Suse running KDE, I have not been able to view any videos online. Youtube has just been a black screen and on other website I have had what my children call the ‘lego block’.

I had the opportunity over the past few days to try and do something about it. When I check with YAST it says flash-player is installed, but in when I type ‘about:plugins’ in the Firefox address bar. It does not show.

Last night when I was just about to give up and ask the forum to help me resolve it I found this thread:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/multimedia/452884-multimedia-one-click.html

So I did it, the Gnome version. Today when I turned on the machine, I can watch Youtube videos. In YAST flash-player is still installed, but I think it is a newer version. about:plugins looks the same, but now has Sliverlight plugin.

When I go to:
Firefox Web Browser — Plugin Check & Updates
DivX® Web Player still says it needs updating and it now shows Sliverlight as needing updating. Sliverlight appears to update, but nothing happens when I click the update button for DivX Web PlayerShould I now just be happy it works? If anyone can see anything obvious that I have missed let me know. I just worry this might be important if I have trouble with it in the future.

Regards

As long as you do not install the Multimedia version of Packman (using the one click or in another way), you will have problems with most multimedia. That is true for every openSUSE user since a long time. And this is advertized in a lot of places.

I must have had the Packman Repo before then. I am glad it is not something else I am missing, thank you.

I was unable to play YouTube video before installing flash plugin on OpenSUSE 12.2. This topic solve my problem after install flash on my OpenSUSE 12.2 64bithttp://blog.gambliser.com/2012/09/install-flash-player-11-2-on-opensuse-12-2-with-single-click/
