After choosing capisuite and capi4linux yast wants to install several KDE-Packages.
But I have a “Minimal-Server”-System. So I have no need for any KDE-Software.
Why do yast pretend to install this?

Generate a “test solver case” an open a bugzilla on this.

hej Toben,
strange, very strange…using openSUSE 10.3 here in my (GUI) YaST,
and looking (under YaST’s “Dependencies” tab) at the list of required
files/packages i see NO mention of KDE being required for capisuite
version 0.4.5-122 or capi4linux version 2007.10.9-1.1
so, i wonder what is going on there, on your machine…
first: what version of SUSE are you using? in a terminal type and enter
cat /etc/SuSE-release
and, what kind of hardware are we talking about?
second: i wonder if YaST has also accidentally selected to install any
software other than just those two packages, and their dependencies?
maybe the problem will solve itself it you abort the failed YaST try
and just start it over… maybe…
third: depending on your version you might want to use zypper instead
of YaST to install the packages…are you familiar with zypper? see
man zypper

I’m new to that.
How do I do that?
I’m not infront of my machine at the moment. But I installed an OpenSUSE 11.1.
What do you mean?
CPU => i686
Network => Trying to install AVM Fritz!Card DSL
No!
I assume the offending package is kdelibs4?
Try this:
rpm -q --whatrequires kdelibs4
If it’s actually kdelibs3, then substitute that.
Not sure what the problem in your case is. I have a CLI only mail server that has no KDE package at all on it.

ah…looking at http://tinyurl.com/mejb8r i see the card seller also
offers a “K ADSL Watch Version 01.00.06 (compatible with driver
3.10.05 or higher)” which is SURE to have some KDE dependencies…
MAYBE they accidently put some KDE stuff into their “FRITZ!Card DSL
CAPI Driver Version 03.11.07”…if so, then you have to take that up
with them! (which i suppose is the source basis for the driver YaST
finds)…maybe not…
are you aware of: http://tinyurl.com/leaqak which may or may NOT work
with yours…
>> are you familiar with zypper?

well, it is an underlying console way to update using the repos…i
was thinking maybe there might be an easy way to block the unwanted
dependencies…but, come to think about it YaST should already give
you that option…have you tried NOT approving the inclusion of any
KDE packages…and, see if the DLS card works??
oh, to become aware of zypper, see: man zypper
and/or (for example):
http://en.opensuse.org/Zypper

Open YaST / software management and search for the package you want to
install, i.e., capi4linux.
Select the file in order to be installed and check for any dependencies. If
there are any extra packages that are marked as needed to install
(kdelibs*), of course do not install them, but go to Xtras menu and
select “generate test solver case”.
Then you can attach that report to bugzilla if you think kdelibs should not
be installed in a text based environment.
