Dear pioneers,
I use vmware 11 workstation to install Leap 42.1, but after I use graphical yast2 to change the default DM and WM from KDM to GDM and gnome?
After I reboot, I cann’t use the non-root normal user to login? what happens? I didn’t change any files’ permission when I change the default desktop.
Possibly the following questions could help:
- Was a test performed to check that the users could use the Gnome Desktop before the default values were changed in sysconfig?
- OK, you’re using gdm or kdm, which means that root can login but, which Desktop Environment is being used by the root user once the login succeeds?
- Just a guess (I’m not a Gnome fan): does the gdm configuration file (assuming that there is one) contain anything which prevents normal users logging in? (A badly configured ‘kdmrc’ file can also cause issues like this.)
