It appears that the openSuse updates repo is delta’ed which is great on
bandwidth but other repos aren’t like the various kde and mozilla ones.

Because until now only the official update repositories offer delta-rpm.

As far as I am concerned, I will not offer delta.rpms in my OBS repo, if I had to change something myself to do that (if it will be done automatically, that’s fine with me), as I mostly host very small packages and don’t see the point then.
If delta.rpms are offered, you will still have to offer the “full” rpms for users installing a package for the first time or upgrading from a version from another repo, so your repo will grow (a lot) bigger.
So the problem might be filling up mirror servers with large amounts of “new” packages if everybody starts using delta.rpms in his own repo, hopefully the mirrors can cope with that.
