whois contains mkpasswd program

felipe@cheetah:~> rpm -qf /usr/bin/mkpasswd
whois-4.7.28-1.23

Perhaps mkpasswd should be removed from whois package for 11.2. No reason for it to be there (except the fact they are (seem to be) written by the same author).

Tell it to Novell bugzilla.

darn it! no time! must study for exams :frowning:

We don’t have any more time than you; 24 hours per day, same as everybody else. Developers are not watching this forum just in case people like you post. It’s not such a big bug, it can wait until after your exams.

I didn’t mean to sound snarky or rude. I was only expressing that I would like to post a bug, but unfortunately cannot at this time. I know it isn’t a serious bug, just thought I’d bring it up, in case there was a good reason it was included in ‘whois’ package. I know developers are busy people, I wasn’t intending to imply that someone else should report the bug, or take care of this issue, without first some effort on my part.

edit: and what is “people like you”?

Users of openSUSE.

you don’t have time to report such a small bug (which will take only a few mins to report), but you do have time to argue on the forum for the reasons why you can’t?

Splitting mkpasswd and whois is on my TODO list now.
