Who is online?

Can we see who is online in the future?

On the top bar, below your username and inbox options, there is a link called Quick Links. Click that, and a dropdown will appear; the last link on the dropdown is Who’s online. That will redirect you to the online page. If this is easier, the URL for the page is http://forums.opensuse.org/online.php

Thanks, missed that one!

No problem. So did I at first. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think what you really want is to see a list of who is in the forum as you look at the different subjects, thats quite a good feature I have it on my woltlab board.

Especially handy when your having a discussion with someone, it even tells you if they are writing a post, gets you ready to reply

Yes we had this feature also on SuSE Linux Forums (Powered by Invision Power Board)
I like to see it on this forum too…

See “Who’s Online” in the Quicklinks menu.

Keith Kastorff

It’s not a limitation of vB, rather it was disabled

But +1 to adding it

Got used to see who’s on line at the bottom of the page even when not login:cool:

If it’s a feature available on vB, I would vote for it is as well.

-1 adding it. It’s available with just a couple of clicks like Keith said. Forum staff discussed it and came to the conclusion that we would rather not put it on the forum pages and force every person that comes to the forums to have to load all that information every time they open the home page. Often there are more than 1000 concurrent users (logged in and guests). It’s better to keep the forum pages clean and let those that want to see that information go to the page that displays it.

Good point, it’s a messy feature when the forum is real big.

That’s true, since the suse forums are large, it would probably look something like ubuntu’s(look at the bottom)

Imaging each person online listed, take up the screen.

I liked this on the Ubuntu forums:

Forum Archive
( 556,028 Threads ) ( 3,022,689 Replies )
A reply only archive of the main support categories pre 4/21/2008.

Isn’t that kind of like having write only memory in a computer?
