Using KDE on 11.1. On occasions I find a white box where a pop up window at the top of the screen had been will remain an empty white box after pop up has gone. It “overwrites” everything and I can only get rid of it by doing init 3 and then init 5 to restore the GUI. Anybody else have this and is it a bug?

Are you still using the shipped kde4.1.3?
Most have upgraded to 4.2.1 and with much improved behavior.
Looks like I am. Even have some kde3 stuff installed. So how do I go about upgrading please. Do I have to uninstall anything first? Slow learner I am afraid!
Add these repo’s and then from Software Management - Filter by Repo - Select each new repo in turn starting with the Desktop and do Update all in this list unconditionally. if you get dependency errors you can’t figure out save them to file and post here:
Make sure you remove any Build Service 4.1.3 repo’s if you added them (Probably not by the sound of it)

Great. Found the “one click install” for opensuse on KDE site before reading your post but all looks the same as above. I didn’t have the older version repo site and upgrade is going on as I type. (Incredibly slowly I’m afraid to say. Must be a busy site or under resourced.)
Many thanks,
