YaST Online Update installs from one repo only, the “update repo” for
your version…
for my system that is: http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/

Right.
Actually, it updates from all repos of update type, I forget how to
recognize them. There are some OBS projects that keep them.

you mean all the downloads come from only opensuse update repository.
but i have more than 10 repository inclouding Packman, Nvidia and so on.
i thought when i use online update, it use all the repositories and find updates from all the repositories and then start giving data here and there.
is it incorrect?

no, that was not your question!
you asked where updates come from when you use Yast2 Online Update, and
i gave you the correct answer.

so, i guess you have decided to not follow the great advice in the
paragraph beginning with “IMPORTANT” in this posting
http://tinyurl.com/33qc9vu, right?
why did you decide to ignore that advice?
first suggestion: make your repo set up look like mine:
http://paste.opensuse.org/81397698 well, actually just make sure you
have exactly four repos enabled, and two repos refreshing…and, make
SURE they are the correct four.

yes, that is incorrect…
those other repos are for installing new application, drivers, utilities
and etc that you do not already have on your system using either YaST
Software Management or “zypper in” [in for ‘instal’]
once an application/etc has been installed then all security patches and
major updates flow though the update repo via either YaST Online Update
or “zypper patch”…
NOT “zypper up” and NOT “zypper dup” those are other commands you
probably are not ready to use yet…at least, i will advise you to NOT
use them until you are fully prepared to alone and unafraid repair any
damage to your system which might result…well, look around the forum,
if you have the wrong repos and use the wrong commands you WILL have
problems.

Yes - when using YOU.

No matter.

No.

Yes
When you use YOU, or “zypper patch” all updates come from the updates
repo, no matter what other repos have to offer. By design.

in that advice it says that i only need 4 repositories but in your picture you have more than 4 repositories. do you mean i only add repositories that you enabled them in your picture?
another question: you said after installing for example nvidia graphic driver using nvidia repository, i do not need that repository any more, then if i remove this repository, how can i get future updates about nvidia graphic driver? does opensuse update repository offer these updates too?

but, there are only four enabled and two refreshing (see the check
marks?) none of the others are available for use by either YaST or
zypper…they are just listed there but disabled and non-refreshed…
just the same as if they were not listed there at all…
> do you mean i only add

most likely, if you are like most folks you have LOTS of repos (because
just about every time you use a 1-Click a repo or two are added to your
list) so all you need to do is disable and stop refreshing until your
check marks look like mine: 4 enabled and 2 (packman and update)
refreshing…

you do not have to remove the repo…just disable it and stop its
refreshing…then, as long as your nvidia graphic driver is working as
it should: Do not fix it! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
if on the other hand you read in these forums that there is a NEW nvidia
graphics driver for your graphics system, and it is wonderful, no
problems, smooth as silk GREAT, then just enable/refresh that repo and
install the new driver. simple.
BUT, before you install that new driver take some precautions! because
while the new driver might work on most machines, it might not work on
yours! so have a plan on how to fix your machine if the new driver
breaks it. and, have that plan before installing the new driver…
clear?

OK, thank you for your complete answer. but, if i do not need other repositories, why should i keep them and only disable them? why shouldn’t i remove them completely?
and about graphics: my nvidia driver that i installed it about 1 months ago is slower than nouveau driver and has some hangs when i use firefox and so on. please see following thread and help me if it is possible:
Nvidia driver is slower than open source driver
