I’m running openSUSE 11.0
I see that there’s now a set of repos called Factory as well as for specific
openSUSE versions i.e.
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_Factory/
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.0/
Which one should I be using - the openSUSE_Factory/ or openSUSE_11.0/ to
keep my system up to date?
Alan
Have a look at this thread.

That’s not really enlightened me much.
I’ve previously been using the …/openSUSE_11.0 repositories and running
zypper up -t package.
If I switch to …/openSUSE_Factory will it blow my system?
Alan
I’m currently running openSUSE 11, and I recently added those 2 repos. Executing
zypper up -t package
worked for me. There were some initial conflicts reported, which I managed to skip around (without any issues). Upgrade to KDE 4.2.1 was ok.
Obviously, the key thing is to remove any KDE 4.1 repos first.

The first Factory means the newest KDE4 the last Factory means the newest
openSUSE which is later to be named 11.2. You are running openSUSE 11.0, so
you have to use the repository below this line:

Thanks - that explains it nicely. It’s somewhat confusing having Factory at
2 levels in the hierarchy :).
I dug around on the openSUSE site but I couldn’t find info on this - surely
this should be a little more prominent.
I use rsync to make local copies of some of the repos (update and KDE),
mainly to make use of free (as in beer) overnight bandwidth from my ISP so
I’ll now filter out the openSUSE_Factory directories
