Could someone please tell me which repo I should use to test the upcoming KDE 4.8 release. Factory:
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Distro:/Factory/openSUSE_12.1
still seems to contain 4.7.4 instead of 4.7.95

I installed 4.8 RC1 last night from the above mentioned repo. There were a lot of dependency issues to navigate through. Originally, I used YaST’s switch repo option but I eventually gave up after multiple dependency issues kept popping up. I chose to update packages individually and managed to work my way through it.
In the end, if I remember correctly, I ended up ignoring one dependency and deleting a qtcurve-kde4 package. KDE 4.8 looks to be using different fonts that look better to me. Also there’s a slight change in the overall look that looks more polished.
I also installed amarok-2.5 which is working but the center panel is blank except for a small square in the upper left hand corner. Amarok 2.5 is from the KDE:/Distro:/Factory repo but the Amarok devs say it’s the final release. 2.5 solves a problem I was having with .m4a files crashing Amarok.
there’s a bug in rc1 that was not in beta2 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=288575, something in kdelibs breaks the applet panel in Amaorok
for me parts of the center panel works, but the bottom applet panel is blank - mixing Amarok from factory with KDE unstable could be exasperating your problem (empty center panel). I compiled Amarok.
You might see a bit more functionality using the Amarok rpm found in the unstable playground Index of /repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/Playground/openSUSE_12.1_KDE_Unstable_SC
not for me
An upgrade was made today to 4.7.98 (4.8 RC2+ (4.7.98) “release 461”

KDE 4.8 is now in the KDE:/Release:/48/ repos. There are still a few packages missing, but I enabled this repo and now my system is running the final version of 4.8. I also removed/replaced all of the packages from the Unstable repo.
I’m still having some problems with Amarok 2.5 but everything else is working fine.
