Which openSUSE should i download to install from usb?

Index of /distribution/11.3/iso

Hello colao,

Depends on what you want.

You can choose the **openSUSE-11.3-DVD-i586.iso **if you a complete installer, with KDE and GNOME.
Or if you want a 64-bit install then you can choose: **openSUSE-11.3-DVD-x86_64.iso
**The downside of such dvd iso is that you need an USB stick greater than 4GB.

If you only want KDE then you can choose: openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso
And of course **openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-x86_64.iso **for 64-bit.

And for Gnome you can choose:** openSUSE-11.3-GNOME-LiveCD-i686.iso** or openSUSE-11.3-GNOME-LiveCD-x86_64.iso

Good luck!

I won’t download dvd.
Will those live-cd work to install from usb?
Have you installed using one of those live-cd with usb/pendrive?

It’s 32 bit.

Hello colao,

You can use them to install from an USB.

Yes, a while back I installed openSUSE 11.3 KDE on a netbook using an usb.
Here’s a thread I started about my experience: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/community/general-chit-chat/442679-just-installed-11-3-netbook.html

Then you should go for **openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-i686.iso **or openSUSE-11.3-GNOME-LiveCD-i686.iso.
Which one depends if you want KDE or GNOME.

Good luck!

What does that isohybrid do?
Why do we need isohybrid?
Can unetbootin do the same thing?

Hello colao,

Isohybrid is a tool to convert an iso into an iso file that can be booted from all sorts of storage devices.
But it was my mistake of using it, because the LiveCD iso’s are already hybrids.
Only when you want the DVD or the NET iso on an USB then you need to use isohybrid.

But since you’re planning to use a LiveCD iso there’s no need for isohybrid.

I don’t know if unetbootin can do this.

Good luck!
