Where's the retail version?

How come the retail version has been available for pre-order in Germany for weeks now, but we still can’t order it here in North America?

I’ve been buying the retail version every single release since 2003. I’ve already downloaded all the CDs and DVDs, but I like to have the fancy-schmancy retail DVD when I do installs for friends, family and neighbours. It makes them feel more confident that I’m installing something “official”.

Plus I really like my vast collection of retail boxes

Thanks,

Buy openSUSE - openSUSE

I didn’t expect something as retail box with openSUSE since it’s free to download.

Does anyone knows where to buy opensuse 11.2 Retail from the Philippines? The one in which I can order online.

I just want to have the retail box and CDs/DVDs to brag with my friends that it’s much cheaper compared to their Windows 7 Box. rotfl!

probably fastest to order via the link in opensuse.org (and it will be
mailed)…

or, contact a Linux User Group in the country, see

Hi, from what I understand the retail version used to include a printed copy of the reference manual but no longer does,if so is this manual available seperately. I know there is a free pdf on line but it is just not the same thing.

it is the same…

the printed manual which used to come in the retail openSUSE package
was printed from the PDFs which were included on the install disk…

just one was read as ink dots on paper and the the other was glowing
dots on screen…

if you wish you could have scanned the paper one and put it into PDFs,
or you could print the PDFs to paper–you still have the free choice
to print the PDFs, if you wish…

I do not remember ever having to plug a book into a power supply!!

Same thing??

‘thing’ is a very imprecise description…

the PDF and the manual share the:
same information
same fonts
same colors
same layout
same illustrations
same everything

except different delivery medium
(dead trees instead of electrified gizmos)

if you want it on dead trees you may have that way, simply!
just print it…see?

I am aware that the content of the pdf and printed manual is identical. And that I can print that pdf .I am one who simply finds a printed version better to work with than the electronic media version,In particular for a reference manual.

I have no issues with a printed version not being available,I simply wanted to know if there is one available,The answer is no,I thank novel for making a reference manual this good available for free download.

And yes I will be printing it to ‘dead trees’.!
